Ding and Dent

No, we aren't talking about our fellow inside voices podcast Ding & Dent!

This week a friend of ours was lucky enough to pick up some heavily discounted games- the catch? A great big hole in the box!

This week we are discussing if a damaged game is worth the discount - and just how important a games box is anyway!

We also discuss many of the new (to us) games we were fortunate enough to get to play this week including Near and Far, Gubs, Viticulture and the not so new Colt Express as well as how we got on at our works board game club.

For those curious this is the box cover of Caylus I showed Kelly not the newer edition which looks a bit better:

Also if you are at Airecon next and you see us around please do speak to us! We would love to meet you! We will be doing a special Airecon episode next week which will be a little bit late as we will still be there on Sunday!

  1. Big fan of Colt Express here, and it's one I've made 3D loot for. Have you played with the Marshal and Prisoners expansion? By making the Marshal a playable role, I think it changes the shape of the game a lot, as the other players have a reason to work together sometimes. You can apparently buy the giant version, but I've heard the production quality isn't great.

Why would you play a worker placement game about wine, when you could play one about VIKINGS? :)

The games shop I get to most often is Thirsty Meeples in Oxford, and they don't tend to do damaged-box discounts (or they all get snapped up before I see them).

I'll look for you at Airecon!

  2. I'd love to go to Thirsty Meeples, we keep talking about doing weekend break to Oxford, maybe one day!

I haven't played any of the expansions for Colt Express, though I'd looked at the stagecoach one in the past. I like the sound of playing the Marshal - if only so I could play yellow!

  3. Thanks meant for sharing this type of satisfying opinion, written piece is fastidious, that’s why I’ve read it completely.
